Celebrate The Boo!
Halloween has always been one of my favorites. As a kid I couldn’t wait for October 31st. Part of the fun was creating my own costumes out of whatever we could find around the house. I was everything from Frankenstein to Zorro, a ghost to an escaped convict—each outfit pieced together with grocery bags, old paint, charcoal, and even treasures pulled from my grandfather’s trunks in the attic. Nothing was store-bought, but that was half the fun.
The other half was the excitement of the night itself. A whole gang of kids would take over the neighborhood, laughing, shouting, and making spooky noises. The candy was a big draw, of course, but what I remember most is the sense of adventure—being out after dark, running through the crisp fall air, and maybe getting into a little mischief best not talked about here!
Those memories are never far away when I’m creating my Halloween designs today. While I enjoy the spooky side of the holiday, what I really want to capture in my art is the fun. You’ll see it in witches who smile while they dance, a mischievous kitten dressed as Dracula, glowing jack-o-lanterns, or a black cat with an LED glare. Even my scariest new witch has a whimsical side, with a cheeky message on her tombstone and a tiny creature perched on her staff.
For me, Halloween isn’t just about fear—it’s about laughter, imagination, and adventure. My designs are my way of reliving those childhood nights, while also helping to create new memories for kids (and their families) today.
God Bless,
