Honor Our Mothers
I never had any formal training as an artist. I like to think that worked out pretty well… but I’ll admit, there was a lot of trial and error (mostly error) along the way. Over time I learned things that are now part of every piece I create—color combinations, pattern flow, syncopation—things I never would have understood when I first started. It was on-the-job training, with plenty of missteps along the way. If only I knew then what I know now…
Parenthood is a lot like that. Nobody hands you a guidebook. Every child is different, and just when you think you’ve figured something out, everything changes again. By the time we begin to feel a little wiser our kids are grown and finding their own way. Raising children isn’t about mastering a skill—it’s about showing up every day with faith, courage, patience, and a love that doesn’t quit.
Mothers do most of the heavy lifting along those lines. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, something beautiful happens—you begin to see your own daughters step into that same role.
Watching them become mothers themselves is one of life’s great blessings. You see the lessons passed down, the love multiplied, and the strength you once leaned on now living within them. It’s humbling, a little surreal, and incredibly rewarding.
The journey comes full circle in the most beautiful way.
Happy Mother’s Day.
God Bless,
