Memorial Day

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial beginning of summer or a long holiday weekend. It’s a day to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, sacrificing their futures so others could live in freedom. Their courage shaped the story of America, and it also helped in the fight for liberty and hope in places around the world.

Behind every name etched on a monument or folded into a flag is a story—a son, daughter, husband, wife, friend, or neighbor whose life mattered deeply to those who loved them. Memorial Day reminds us that freedom has never been free. It has been carried forward by ordinary people willing to do extraordinary things in moments of great need.

For many families, this day is personal. Stories are passed down about loved ones who served with honor, and memories are held close with gratitude and pride. Even when the details fade with time, the impact of their sacrifice lives on.

And I’m reminded that honoring these heroes is about more than remembrance—it’s about the life we choose to live right now. Their sacrifice inspires us to be to try to be better… kinder, more patient, more grateful, and more willing to serve others.

The freedoms we enjoy today were dearly won. Remembering that is both a privilege and a responsibility.

God Bless,
